Mark Jones has served as the Treasurer for the Valley District Cricket Club for a combined 12 seasons and as an Executive Committee Member for 15 seasons. He is a finance professional who is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a Bachelor of Business. Mark has over 23 years of experience advising some of Queensland's leading privately owned businesses and high wealth families in relation to their accounting and taxation requirements, as well as ensuring that families are proactively managing their succession and family governance arrangements.

In his role as Treasurer for the Club, Mark has overseen the a number of significant infrastructure projects undertaken by the Club, including lighting upgrades to 2 of the 3 playing fields, the extensive redevelopment of the clubhouse (in conjunction with our tenants, the GPS Rugby Club), refurbishment of the 14 net training facility and construction of groundsman's shed and pavilion for the number 1 oval. He has also overseen the introduction of paid administrative personnel to the club, including the appointment of a club general manager, as well as been involved in the introduction of a number of commercial, revenue generating initiatives (e.g. Valley Academy and Brisbane City Council mowing contract).

Mark understands the critical importance of managing the Club's finances in a strategic manner, ensuring that the Club is a viable operation but in the short, medium and long term, not only to ensure we can continue to deliver to our members but also ensure that we are safeguarding the investment that many of our stakeholders have made in the Club (e.g. Governments at all levels, Cricket administrative bodies, sponsors, etc). The Club maintains a strong financial position and has a history of strong financial performance which has been achieved through strategic decision making over many years.
